According to recent reports, recent La Liga champions Barcelona have increased their interest in Amadou Onana. The Everton midfielder, who is also sought after by Arsenal and Chelsea, was valued at 60 million euros in the summer transfer market. However, the Catalans have set a limit of 40 million euros for his signing.
Onana, 22 years old and originally from Dakar, has made a remarkable mark since arriving at Everton in 2022 from LOSC Lille. The Belgium international, who has trained in Belgium and Germany, has played nine times for his country and made 59 appearances for the Toffees, contributing three goals and three assists.
Onana, a wish from Deco and Laporta
Barcelona’s interest in Onana is no surprise as they look for a long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets in midfield. However, they are reluctant to exceed the €40 million mark in their offer for the talented midfielder.
Arsenal, for their part, view Onana as a viable option amid concerns over the continuity of Thomas Partey, who is struggling with recurring injuries. Meanwhile, Chelsea have also shown interest in the player despite their recent reinforcements in midfield.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea have the financial capacity to meet Everton’s valuation, which could affect Barcelona’s chances of securing Onana’s signing within the current price limit. The Catalan club could find itself in a difficult situation if it cannot increase its offer to compete with the financial resources of its English rivals.
