Barbie: Greta Gerwig reveals that she cut a “concert of prouts” during the editing

It was expected, Barbenheimer (Barbie by Greta Gerwig and Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan) is a hit at the French and international box office. With respectively 1.6 and 1.1 million viewers in the first week of operation and 495 million international receipts against 229 million for the father of Atomic bomb, both projects are re-energizing a sagging box office. In a recent appearance in the episode filmmakertoolkit For Indiewire, Greta Gerwig revealed that she originally wanted to introduce a concerto of prouts in Barbie but would have ultimately abandoned the idea because it would have sabotaged an emotional moment called ” crucial in the plot:

“We always tried to make a good fart joke and we never did. We had like a fart opera in the middle (of Barbie). I thought that was really funny. And that was not the consensus. »

Spectators are now wondering about the feasibility of a Barbie 2 given the tidal wave achieved by the first part. The director announced that the film was ” everything she had planned » and that for the moment, « she was completely at zero”.
