Banreservas attracts investments for US$525 million

The general administrator of the Banco de Reservas, Samuel Pereyra, reported yesterday that the financial institution received tourist investments for the country of more than US$525 million, as a result of more than 30 meetings with hoteliers at the ITB Berlin fair, held in the German capital of 7 to 9 of this month.

He said that the preliminary agreements with businessmen representing various hotel groups will require financing of some US$260 million for various projects in the short, medium and long term.

The investments for identified projects will contribute some 1,800 new rooms, in addition to the reform or reconversion of another 815 rooms due to a change of hotel brand, Pereyra said.

The official reported that businesses were also negotiated with important investors linked to the broad tourism value chain, such as tour operators and representatives of complementary services in the sector.

Interest

In the meetings with the Banreservas business delegation, the businessmen showed special interest in the emerging poles of Miches and Punta Bergantín, which have the support of the financial institution and the Ministry of Tourism.

Banreservas participated in ITB Berlin, one of the most important tourism fairs in the world, with the aim of attracting tourists and hotel companies and thus increasing foreign investment with the capacity to install tourism companies or infrastructures in the Dominican Republic.
