Bangladesh Team Faces Uncertainty in West Indies Tour

Bangladesh’s tour of the West Indies has been a rollercoaster ride, with the team drawing the 2-match Test series 1-1, but losing the first two matches of the three-match ODI series. The team has already lost the series. The Bangladesh team will also play a three-match T20 series against the host, with the first match scheduled for December 15 in Kingstown. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the squad for this series, with Liton Das set to captain the team in place of regular captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who is still recovering from a groin injury.

Players Dropped from the Squad

The T20 squad announced by the Bangladesh team against the West Indies has seen the exclusion of players who played in the series against India, including Tauhid Hridoy, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Rakibul Hasan. The series has also seen the return of Soumya Sarkar, Afif Hussain, Shamim Hussain Patwari, Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmood, and Ripon Mandal. Mehdi Hasan Miraj, who captained the Test and ODI series against the West Indies, has not been given the responsibility of captaincy for the T20 series due to his irregular participation in the format. Shakib Al Hasan has also not been included in the squad, while Mahmudullah, who had announced his retirement from the format after playing the last match of the T20 series against India, is also not part of the team.

In the 16 T20 matches played between the two teams, the West Indies have won 9 times, while Bangladesh has won 5 times. The West Indies have also played four T20 International matches at home, winning all of them.
