Banco Caribe will reduce its “environmental footprint” by 25%

With the purpose of mitigate the negative impact generated at environment and offset the emissions generated by the events into the atmosphere, caribbean bank held its annual meeting of collaborators at an event “carbon neutral” becoming the first activity of this type that is carried out in the national financial sector.

The executive president of this entity, Dennis Simo Alvarezannounced a climate action plan to reduce the “carbon footprint” by 25% by 2025adding to the innovative companies who voluntarily commit to self-regulation to take action on the global problem of climate change.

The bank executive summarized the achievements of 2022 at the “carbon neutral” event, held in a hotel in the capital, in which he reiterated Banco Caribe’s commitment to sustainability.

The activity also included the words of Edmundo Aja, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banco Caribe and the presence of the members of this body, senior management and collaborators from different regions of the country.

Simó explained that an activity of “carbon neutral” It is one that seeks to minimize the environmental impacts generated during its planning, development and post-event, reducing the impact associated with the supply chain and organization, minimizing the carbon footprint and offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions generated in these stages.

He said that to certify this event as “carbon neutral”, the first of the national banks in this modality, Banco Caribe made adjustments during its planning and development to reduce the emission of polluting gases into the atmosphere, specifically the gases that cause climate change. , offsetting emissions with the purchase of carbon credits in the international market.

The carbon neutrality certification was issued by the company CO2Cero, based in Colombia.

In addition, the event involved Yomayra Martinó, lead consultant for the company GreEnergy Dominican Republic, who congratulated Banco Caribe for its commitment to sustainable development and climate action, and presented the main executives of the financial institution with the “Verde de Verdad” seal, awarded by the international company CO2Cero, after concluding the process of measurement of its “carbon footprint” in all its branches and administrative buildings.

A second recognition was granted to Banco Caribe for completing the compensation process for all the greenhouse gases emitted during the collaborators’ meeting.
