Bangladesh have surprised again in cricket. Bangladesh registered a spectacular win in the first ever T20 match of their tour of New Zealand. In the first match of the three-match T20 series, the Bangladesh team defeated the Kiwis by five wickets. This is the first time that Bangladesh has beaten New Zealand in a home T20 match. Mehdi Hasan was the hero of this historic victory. His all-round performance led the Bangladesh team to victory.
In this match played in Napier, Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to bowl first. New Zealand got off to a very bad start here. The Kiwi team lost three wickets after just one run. Mehdi Hasan sent Tim Seifert (0) into the pavilion in the first round. In the very next over, Shoriful Islam dismissed Finn Allen (1) and Glenn Phillips (0) in consecutive balls.
After this poor start, Daryl Mitchell (14) and Mark Chapman (19) tried to save New Zealand to some extent, but neither could play a big innings. After that, James Neesham scored 48 runs in 29 balls and helped the New Zealand team to a respectable result. Mitchell Santner (23) and Adam Milne (16) also supported him actively. This enabled the New Zealand team to score 134 runs in the stipulated 20 overs after losing 9 wickets. For Bangladesh, Shoriful took three wickets, Mehdi Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets each and Tanzeem and Rishad took one wicket each.
Chasing the target of 135 runs, Bangladesh lost the wicket of Ronnie Talukdar (10) for a total of 13 runs. Captain Shanto (19) was also eliminated for a total of 38 runs. Bangladesh certainly lost goals at regular intervals, but continued to move confidently towards their goal. After the fall of 5 wickets for 97 runs there was little excitement in the game but from here Mehdi Hasan played an innings of 19 runs in 16 balls supporting opener Liton Das (42) very well to score an unbeaten 40 runs for the sixth time Wicket. By forming a partnership, both gave Bangladesh a historic victory.
