Bakkt, which was launched in 2018 by the Intercontinental Exchange (the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange), now only supports Bitcoin trading.

The US company offers a number of cryptocurrency services. For example, consider a Bitcoin futures trading service, a mobile app that allows users to spend their Bitcoin in stores, and a Visa debit card. But Bakkt’s services will soon include Ethereum as well. Bakkt CEO Gavin Michael said in a statement:

“At Bakkt, providing flexible options for users to enjoy their digital assets is a top consideration, and adding Ethereum brings a popular and growing cryptocurrency to our platform.”

Users can buy and sell Ethereum, send it to contacts via the app, and spend it in stores via the debit card, which was launched in June. launched.

Bakkt’s institutional clients can also use the company’s custody service to store Ethereum.


No specific date yet

The Georgia-based company has not given a specific date for when users can start trading Ethereum.

Bakkt started as a publicly traded company last month after a merger with VPC Impact Acquisition Holdings. It is traded on the NYSE under the ticker “BKKT”.

The company partnered with Google in October to allow users to spend crypto with the Bakkt Visa debit card at the millions of merchants using Google Pay around the world.

Bakkt also uses the Google Cloud to build new analytics with artificial intelligence, machine learning, and geolocation.
