Bahrain recital, with Colbrelli as the great winner

The Italian Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain Victorius) achieved this Sunday the final victory in the Benelux Tour, finishing second in the seventh and final stage, in which his teammate the Slovenian Matej Mohoric won alone, who finished second overall, with Mohoric winning the 177.9 kilometer closing stage between Namur and Graardsbergen (Belgium), with eleven seconds of margin on Colbrelli and 15 on the third, the Dutch Tom Dumoulin (Jumbo-Visma).

The 31-year-old Colbrelli, current Italian road long-distance champion, took the lead of the sixth stage on Saturday. and the only real threat to his leadership was from his own teammate. In the end, the Italian secured the win ahead of Mohoric.

“We played our cards a little differently. We didn’t want to just defend Sonny’s lead by setting the pace and making up breaks, but we wanted to provoke others to attack and for me to follow, pSo the other riders had to keep up with Sonny to my wheel, “explained Mohoric at the finish. “We executed the plan perfectly and it worked like a charm. We cannot be more than happy today,” added the Slovenian.
