Francesco Bagnaianew world champion of MotoGPhas already had time to reflect on his recent title achieved after a spectacular comeback, since that of ducati came to be 91 points apart from Fabio Quartararo. “There were a lot of points, but I knew the potential we had”, exposes ‘Pecco’ in DAZN, who continues: “I thought it was competitive to continue fighting for the title. I thought I had the potential to be a champion.”

The man from Turin joined the Ducati official in 2021, after two years in the Pramacstructure to which he ascended with the title of champion of Moto2 achieved with the SKY Racing Team VR46. The pressure since his arrival in MotoGP, an Italian rider on an Italian mount that had not won the title since 2007 (Stoner), marked Bagnaia from the start, as he himself admits: “I felt all that pressure, all that weight on my back and it was not easy, but it was also a motivation to achieve this goal. I am very proud of my World Cup team. It’s amazing for us.” With all eyes on him, Bagnaia opens up and slips that there have been a few moments of doubt since she came to Borgo Panigale: “When I signed for Ducati, it was my goal, my dream to be world champion. And when I was at home, I sometimes wondered if I had chosen the best team for my future. And then he always told me: ‘yes, it’s the best team’. This is my dream. And that, if he was able to win the title on this bike and with this team, it would have a special flavor”.

And it has been. The Desmosedici GP22with the uncertainties of the start of the season with the Pramac ‘satellites’ and Gresini surpassing the official Lenovo Team, has proven to be the best bike, or at least the most complete, on the grid. The second half of the Italian’s season has been impeccable, and after the two zeros added in Barcelona and Germany, came four consecutive wins that made believe and increased the ambition in the red box: “You start to think that you are unbeatable and that is something that, perhaps I shouldn’t say, but when I finished second in Aragón, I was angry because I had not achieved the fifth consecutive victory. I think I used that determination, that ambition to stay there, to fight for it.. Maybe Fabio (Quartaro) was too defensive in that part of the championship. I don’t know if I put too much pressure on him, but I’m sure something changed.” the new MotoGP champion ends.
