Babil Khan is making a name for himself in Bollywood, just like his father, the late actor Irrfan Khan. His recent performance in the cyber-thriller movie “Logout” has earned him praise. In a recent interview with Filmfare, Babil shared his thoughts on his father’s legacy and his own aspirations.
Babil jokingly referred to himself as a prince when asked about his father’s royal heritage. He revealed that his grandfather had distanced himself from their ancestral roots. Babil is planning to drop the “Khan” surname, following in his father’s footsteps. Irrfan had also removed “Khan” from his name, stating that he wanted to be recognized for his work, not his family background or religion.
Why Drop the Surname?
Babil believes that having a famous surname can make it harder to stand out. “Having a legacy makes you part of a certain mold,” he said. “It doesn’t let you reach your true identity.” He added that this decision wasn’t driven by any moral agenda, but rather a desire to establish his own identity.
Babil’s father, Irrfan, passed away on April 29, 2020, at the age of 53, after battling a neuroendocrine tumor. Babil often shares heartfelt memories of his father on social media.
