Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi’s Participation in League in Jeopardy After PCB Denies Them NOC

Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi got a shock due to PCB's decision, did not get NOC to play in this league

Pakistan Cricket Board Refuses to Give NOC to Babar Azam and Other Players for Global T20 League

A recent decision by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has left several Pakistani cricketers disappointed. The PCB has refused to give a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to captain Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and other players to participate in the upcoming Global T20 League.

Busy International Schedule Cited as Reason

According to a statement issued by the PCB, the decision was taken after discussions with the players and the National Selection Committee. The PCB cited the busy international schedule of the Pakistani team as the reason for refusing to grant the NOC. The team is scheduled to play 9 Test matches, 14 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 9 Twenty20 Internationals (T20s) from August 2024 to March 2025.

Pakistani Team to Face Busy Schedule

Apart from the 9 Test matches, the Pakistani team has to play 14 ODIs and 9 T20 matches till March next year. Keeping in mind the workload of the players playing in all three formats, the PCB has decided to prioritize their international commitments.

Limited Overs Players Granted NOC

However, the PCB has given NOC to Mohammad Aamir, Mohammad Nawaz, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Asif Ali, who play only in limited overs format, to participate in the Global T20 League. The decision has left many fans and cricketers wondering if the PCB’s decision is in the best interest of the players and the sport.
