After the bitter fall suffered in Baqueira-Beret, in the first stage of the FWT, Aymar Navarro is already fully focused on the second round of the world championship to be held in Ordino-Arcalís (Andorra). The Aranese is calm, it was his home debut and he played the role he had to play as host. He found a line he felt comfortable with and went for it. This time luck was not on his side but fortunately the fall had no serious consequences.
He has had a few days of recovery, but he is optimistic as always. The RSM Spain athlete has done a bit of cleaning in his head, he has analyzed and filtered everything that happened, removing the negative things and keeping only the positive ones in order to come back strong. “After a fall like this, you have to go back to skiing hard so as not to lose confidence. The most important thing is to put on your skis as soon as possible”, explains Navarro.
On a physical level, the rider is fine, although after the fall he suffers from his knee. “My knee is a bit injured – acknowledges Aymar – and we will have to try to see how it behaves skiing and after skiing. We are back with our skis on and, most importantly, eager to compete”.
The Ordino-Arcalís test will be held in the weather window that runs from this weekend to February 5. Aymar has very good memories of this station where in 2017 he managed to get on the podium by achieving third place with a spectacular descent. After the hit at Baqueira-Beret, his challenge is to try to make up for this unexpected start with a good performance on the Andorran stage.
