Ayesha Al Mansoori became UAE’s first commercial pilot captain

Abu Dhabi: A woman from the United Arab Emirates, Ayesha Al Mansoori, has won the honor of becoming the country’s first commercial pilot captain.

According to Emirati media, 33-year-old Ayesha Al Mansoori has been associated with Etihad, the national airline of the Emirates for a long time. She started her professional career in 2007. Emirati has been named as the captain.

The command upgrade ceremony took place at Etihad’s Crew Briefing Centre, attended by the pilot’s family, fellow pilots and the airline’s senior management.

Captain Ayesha Al Mansoori said she was “very grateful” to have the opportunity to extend her aviation career with Etihad Airways.

“I am proud to be the first female Emirati to become a captain in a commercial airline, and hope to be an inspiration for young women to pursue this career path,” she added.

The captain joined Etihad’s cadet pilot program 15 years ago, and graduated in 2010 and flew his first flight on an Airbus A320 to Jordan.

Earlier, Ayesha Al Mansoori had achieved the honor of becoming the first UAE female pilot to fly the Airbus A380 in April 2019.
