The aviation group Lufthansa Group takes its first step into the world of Blockchain Through non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in its loyalty program. The program rewards loyal users with unique benefits.

The Lufthansa Group is a global aviation group that includes some of the largest airlines, including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines. The company offers passenger and cargo transportation as well as additional services related to aviation.
From the programWith the so-called Uptrip, passengers can earn digital cards. They do this by flying with the various airlines involved in the group. The digital maps are based on the type of aircraft the passengers are flying on, the destination and the days on which the flight takes place.
Uptrip has already been successfully tested by no fewer than 20,000 users. The platform was developed by the Lufthansa Innovation Group and is based on Polygon (MATIC), the layer-2 network at the top ether (ETH). Users receive special benefits by completing sub-collections. Examples disclosed by the Lufthansa Group include access to airport lounges and free WiFi on board.
Coca Cola is also getting into the NFTs
In addition to Lufthansa, other large companies are also experimenting with the technology. An important development that makes NFTs and crypto in general useful for the mainstream Audience. Coca Cola has worked with the leading companies crypto exchange Coinbase a unique NFT collection called Masterpiece started. As part of Coca Cola’s summer advertising campaign, these digital collectibles combine classic art with the iconic Coca-Cola bottle.
NFTs include adaptations of Dutch masterpieces such as Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring and Van Gogh’s The Bedroom, all associated with the Coca Cola brand. The NFTs will cost between 0.0011 ETH and 0.014 ETH (around US$2-25) and will be sold through Coinbase’s recently launched Base Layer 2 network.
