Austrian Man Detained in Croatia with Mysterious Passenger

Unusual Incident at Croatian Border Crossing

A recent incident at a Croatian border post has raised eyebrows after a 65-year-old Austrian man was detained while attempting to enter the country with a deceased passenger in his vehicle.

Circumstances of the Incident

The incident occurred in late November at the Gunja border crossing, which separates Bosnia from Croatia. During a routine check, Croatian police became suspicious when they noticed that the passenger, an 83-year-old Austrian woman, showed no signs of consciousness or movement.

A doctor was called to the scene, and upon examination, confirmed that the woman had indeed passed away. The police were unable to determine the nature of the relationship between the suspect and the deceased woman.

Motivation Behind the Incident

According to the police, the man claimed that he was attempting to repatriate the woman’s body to Austria in order to avoid the formalities associated with transporting a corpse. Local media reports suggest that the man was the woman’s legal guardian.

Following the confirmation of the woman’s death, a funeral service was arranged to take care of the body.
