Australia gear up for Sydney Test, two new faces included in 14-member squad

Australia have included Matthew Renshaw and Ashton Agar in their 14-man squad for the Sydney Test against South Africa. Egger has returned to the Test team after about 5 years. The third and final test between the two teams will be played in Sydney from January 4. By winning this match against South Africa, the Kangaroo team wants to secure their place in the final of the ICC World Test Championship. Australia currently sits at the top of the World Test Championship points table.

Star all-rounder Cameron Green and fast bowler Mitchell Starc were injured in the Boxing Day Test against South Africa. During this, the finger of both players was fractured. Green and Stark will take a few weeks to recover. Instead of these two players, Matthew Renshaw and Ashton Agar have been included in the Australian squad. Renshaw has returned to the Test team after four years. Apart from this, Agar has been included in the Australian Test squad for the first time in almost five years.

The Kangaroos are ahead 2-0 in the three-Test series between Australia and South Africa. In the third Test, when the host team takes on South Africa, their aim will be to sweep the series by storm. Australia defeated the guests by 6 wickets in the Brisbane Test. While in the Melbourne Test, they defeated South Africa by one innings and 182 runs. If Australia wins the third Test, they will qualify for the final of the ICC World Test Championship.
