Attacks of November 13: provocations by Salah Abdeslam at the opening of the trial

This Wednesday was the first day of the trial for the November 13 attacks. The main defendant, Salah Abdeslam, did not hesitate to speak, in a provocative manner.

In the accused’s box, all eyes were on the last living member of the commandos, Salah Abdeslam. After spending more than five years in detention and in total isolation, his presence was uncertain. He had the right not to appear in the box. His silence seemed even more acquired. Yet he spoke, provocatively.

As the President of the Court asked him to stand up and state his identity, he began by launching: “First of all, I want to testify that there is no god apart from Allah and that Mohamed is his messenger ”.

“I am treated like a dog”

He then took advantage of the brief discomfort of one of his co-defendants to criticize his conditions of detention: “We are treated like dogs, here it is very beautiful, there are flat screens, but back there. … I’ve been treated like a dog for six years. If I have never complained, it is because after death we will be resurrected ”.

Abdeslam’s interrogation is scheduled to take place on January 13-14, 2022.
