Juventus have made a splash in the transfer market by securing talented Portuguese defender Tiago Djaló, who has been out of action since March 2023 with a cruciate ligament injury. News of his arrival in Turin has delighted fans of the 'Vecchia Signora' as the Serie A leading team looks to further strengthen its defence.
The 23-year-old Djaló comes to the Italian team from Lille, where he wore the French club's jersey for three and a half seasons. His career with Lille was cut short on March 4 last year when he sustained a right knee injury during a game against Lens in the French league, which kept him off the field for almost a year.

The Portuguese player, who was previously part of Milan's youth squad, spent the night at the club's hotel near the Juventus Stadium before undergoing the medical examinations required to complete his signing. The deal is expected to be worth around €3.5 million plus bonuses and he will remain with the team until 2028.
Atlético robbery
Juventus has managed to stay one step ahead of other clubs interested in Djaló, such as Inter Milan, who had intentions of signing the player as a free agent next summer as his contract with Lille ended in June. But the club that had the most interest in signing the Portuguese defender was Atlético de Madrid, who tested his contract in recent transfer markets, ultimately failed to make a formal offer for him and Juve managed to snatch him away.
