Atlético de Madrid transfers: Hojbjerg closer than ever

The transfer market continues its course, and at Atlético de Madrid, while they strive to resolve departures, they are also working to reinforce their squad with a new signing. Kondogbia’s departure left a void at the top position, and the rojiblanco club’s priority is to secure the services of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, a talented 27-year-old Danish midfielder who currently plays for Tottenham.

As reported Daily Mail, the talks between Atlético de Madrid and Tottenham have advanced in recent days. Daniel Levy, known for being a tough and complicated negotiator, seems to be giving way in the negotiation, although the process remains slow. The starting price set by Levy for Hojbjerg is approximately 40 million euros, while his market value, according to Transfermarkt, stands at 45 million euros.

The London club have already started looking at possible replacements for Hojbjerg, should the transfer go through. Douglas Luiz, a 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder who plays for Aston Villa, and Chelsea’s 23-year-old Conor Gallagher are two of the names that have emerged as options. Gabri Veiga, a 21-year-old Galician talent from Celta de Vigo, is also mentioned.

I would be looking at houses in Madrid

Hojbjerg seems to be interested in a move to the Spanish capital, as it has been rumored that he has started looking for a house in Madrid. However, negotiations remain slow and no resolution is expected imminently.

Meanwhile, the Danish player is in Australia with his Tottenham teammates for the English team’s pre-season tour. Atlético de Madrid hoped to finalize the signing before his own team embarked on its tour, which will take in South Korea, San Francisco and Mexico, returning to Madrid on August 6, a week before the start of La Liga.

Coach Diego Simeone seeks to close the signings as soon as possible to have the entire team ready for the new season. However, the departures of players like Lemar and Lino have slowed down the arrival process for Hojbjerg.
