At the end of December, less than half of the vehicles had the tag renewed

With just over a month to go until the tag renewal season ends, Less than half of vehicle owners skilled in renewing had completed the process.

As of December 29, 632,735 tags had been renewed out of a total of 1.5 million vehicles available, according to data provided by the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII).

Although renovation can be done virtually, most of the people who have renewed so far have done so in person. 535,524 of the renewals have been carried out through authorized financial entities; 72,200 on the DGII web portal and 25,011 through the institution’s offices.

It is recalled that the period for electronic renewal ends Sunday, January 16. From there, around 30 financial entities with 720 branches distributed throughout the national geography will remain available until the 31st of this month.

With the 632,735 renovations that had been carried out as of December 29, the DGII raised more RD $ 1,062 million.

Carriers
Yesterday the National Confederation of Transport Organizations (Conatra) reported that almost all of its affiliates have renewed their label, so they estimate that this year it will not be necessary to request an extension to Internal Revenue for the renewal.

According to a statement from the organization, its members more than 85% of its affiliates have managed to renew in record time.

At the same time, the spokesperson for Conatra, Mario Díaz, asked the union’s transporters that have not yet renewed their tags, to conclude that process as of the first week of this month to avoid inconveniences.

We advise our affiliates that in no way will we request an extension for renewal to the DGII and that also we will not allow any affiliated vehicle to circulate without complying with this requirement of law ”, states the organization’s note.

Sanctions
The term established by the DGII for the renewal of the tag without surcharges (business period) is from November 2, 2021 to January 31, 2022 inclusive.

Those who have not renewed by that date must pay RD $ 2,000; for those who have not renewed the tag from the previous year (2020-2021), the amount of the penalty is RD $ 2,100; and those who did not renew the 2019-2020 and previous years must pay a surcharge of RD $ 3,100.
