At least 6 dead and 180 vehicles attacked leaves “armed strike” in Colombia

At least six dead and 180 vehicles attackedmost cremated, has left the "armed strike" of the Clan del Golfo, the main criminal gang in Colombia that has dozens of populations in 11 departments of the country in distress, the authorities reported this Sunday. The Ministry of Defense pointed out that the criminal actions of the Clan del Golfo, also known as the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AGC), have led to the murder of three civilians, a police officer and two soldiers. The "armed strike" of the Clan of the Gulfwhich began last Thursday and will continue until Tuesday, is carried out in retaliation for the extradition to the US of its top boss, Dairo Antonio Úsuga, alias "Othniel", one day before. This group has restricted trade, the movement of vehicles on highways and the mobility of people, threatening attacks on those who travel on the roads, even if they go in caravans escorted by the Army, in various departments of Colombia.

On Saturday night, the municipality of Frontino, in the department of Antioquia, experienced difficult hours due to harassment of a police station near the village of Nutibara.

"This afternoon the community surrounding the Nutibara township began to inform us of the displacement of armed men towards the corregimiento with the purpose of harassing and taking over the town center of this corregimiento", expressed the mayor of Frontino, Jorge Hugo Elejalde. That is why he called on the central government not to let the town’s police alone in the face of criminal attacks and asked the Colombian president, Iván Duque, to "appear on the case".

"It is very easy to be brave from the Casa de Nariño with 300 police and escorts who protect you, it is time to come to the regions where we are suffering, enduring hunger and there is no way to get the wounded and sick people out."he expressed.

Since the start of "armed strike"The authorities 92 people have been arrested, 21 by court order and 71 in flagrante delicto, and among those captured appears alias ‘Pedro’, second leader of the Clan del Golfo in the department of Magdalena (north). Likewise, 37 raids have been carried out in which have seized 12 firearms, 481 cartridges6 recorded, 23 cell phones and more than 50 million pesos (about 12,000 dollars).

EXTRADITION OF OTONIEL

Alias "Othniel"considered by the Colombian president, Iván Duqueas dangerous as Pablo Escobar Y "a murderer of social leaders, abuser of children and adolescents, murderer of police officers and one of the most dangerous criminals on the planet", was extradited on Wednesday to face charges in the US for drug-trafficking crimes. Úsuga pleaded not guilty a day later before a federal judge in New York who accused him, among other crimes, of "lead an ongoing criminal enterprise" between 2003 and October 2021, when he was captured, and "participating in an international conspiracy to manufacture and distribute cocaine, knowing and intending that the drugs would be illegally imported into the United States".
