An association collects them to re-evaluate in their store. “At the moment, we approach people a lot, let’s see, explain what we do, how it works and it works very well”, explains Pierre Missio, an employee of the Défi association68.
Furniture, appliances, dishes find a new life. Sold at a low price. A virtuous circle where ecology rhymes with economy. Waste disposal is very expensive. This drop-off point made it possible to collect 7 tons of objects in 2020 and support the reintegration of people with low qualifications and in difficulty. “About thirty people benefited from an employment and integration contract, ” welcomes Oliver Llorente, the coordinator of the Défi association68.
And there is something for everyone. “This allows families that do not necessarily have a lot of means to equip themselves adequately at a low cost”. For every ton of garbage that is neither buried nor incinerated, the community saves an average of 170 euros.
