Aston Martin Unveils AMR25 with Alonso Aiming for Podium Returns

The Aston Martin AMR25 is finally here, and it’s packed with significant changes, particularly in its aerodynamics, including modifications to the alerons and pontoons. The goal is clear: to make the car easier to drive, as stated by Eric Blandin, the team’s chief of aerodynamics. Fernando Alonso, who will be behind the wheel alongside Lance Stroll, is optimistic about the upcoming season.

The Road to Success

Alonso’s aim is to return to the podium, a feat he achieved multiple times in the 2023 season, with eight top-three finishes in Canada, Monaco, the Netherlands, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Miami, and Brazil. The team is looking to build on the lessons learned from the 2024 season, which did not quite meet their expectations. According to Alonso, “We learned from what happened in 2024, and the team has used it as a force to reach this season.” He emphasize that the team has worked hard to ensure they are prepared for the challenges ahead.

New Season, New Challenges

The AMR25 has undergone significant transformations, with the first images revealing a notably different car, especially in its rear section. Aston Martin has opted for a “Filming Day” with the current car at the Sakhir circuit, where Alonso and Stroll will get to test the vehicle. This approach differs from other teams like Ferrari and Racing Bulls, which have chosen to conduct their initial training sessions in Europe. Alonso is eager to get back on the track, stating, “I am excited to return to the track,” where he will assess the competition and the capabilities of the AMR25.

Looking Ahead

Lance Stroll also shared his thoughts on the upcoming season, emphasizing that “this year is vital to improve and progress.” The team is aware of the challenges posed by competitors like McLaren and Ferrari, which seem to have an advantage based on their recent performances. Furthermore, the introduction of new components in March, courtesy of Adrian Newey, could significantly impact the car’s performance. The 2026 season is also on the horizon, bringing with it new hopes and ambitions for the team. With the redesigned AMR25 and a renewed sense of determination, Aston Martin is ready to take on the new season, and Alonso’s confidence is palpable: “We are prepared.”
