Aston Martin Salvages a Crucial Point from Hungarian GP Despite Expectations

Aston Martin Scores Crucial Point in Hungarian GP Despite Challenges

Aston Martin’s Mike Krack hailed the team’s solitary point in the Hungarian Grand Prix as a significant achievement, given the circuit’s unfavourable conditions for their AMR24 car.

Although the team’s performance in qualifying suggested a strong jump, the eliminations of Russell and Checo somewhat masked the reality, with Krack stating that Aston Martin was not well-suited to the Hungaroring. "A very difficult point to achieve on a track where we did not expect to be competitive," he said.

Krack acknowledged that tracks with high temperatures and long curves, such as the Hungaroring, do not play to the team’s strengths. However, he also highlighted errors in strategy that could have yielded more points.

Despite not having both cars in the points, Krack reflected that a point is always valuable, and the team is currently at a point of understanding the improvements made to their car.

A New Hope at Spa

However, the team is looking forward to the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, which promises to be a more favourable circuit for the Aston Martin car. "With the new package we are going to Spa, a totally different circuit, with lots of straights, lots of climbs and descents and lots of high-speed corners and I think that plays much more in our favour and to our strengths," Krack said.

The team principal believes that Spa will be an opportunity for Aston Martin to showcase their strengths and build on their recent progress. "I think Spa plays much more in our favor and with our strengths," he concluded.

Krack expressed positivity, noting that the team has taken a point from one of their worst circuits, and will look to finish the summer break in good shape.
