Assassination of Libyan Prime Minister

Tripoli: Libyan Prime Minister Abdelhamid al-Dubeiba has been assassinated in the capital, Tripoli, but fortunately survived.

According to Arab News, Al-Hadath TV broadcast the news of the attack on the Prime Minister this morning. The news published on the network said that the Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al-Dubeiba was going to his house when unknown people shot at his car on the way. But we were safe when the assailants managed to escape.

Libya’s opposition has declared the government incompetent and called for a vote in parliament today against Prime Minister Abdelhamid, but Prime Minister Abdelhamid has said he rejects a vote to elect a new prime minister.

In March last year, Abdelhamid al-Dubeiba was appointed head of a UN-backed national coalition government that was expected to run the country until the December elections, but allies have been vying for power since the election failed. ۔

On the other hand, the parliament has not yet recognized the UN-backed national unity government, while UN advisers on Libya and Western countries say they recognize the national unity government. The emphasis is on getting it done.

On the other hand, this week the parliament had said that elections would not be held this year.

It is believed that the crisis over control of Libya could escalate once the incident is confirmed.
