Five individuals, including the late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg’s cousin and manager, have been sent to 14 days of judicial custody. This development marks a new turn in the ongoing investigation into Garg’s death. The singer passed away last month on the 19th in Singapore.

Assam Police recently confirmed the arrests. Sandipan Garg, Zubeen’s cousin, and Siddharth Sharma, his manager, are among those remanded. Shyamkanu Mahanta, Nandeshwar Bora, and Paresh Baishya were also sent to judicial custody.

Officials noted that no lawyer represented the accused, and no bail applications were filed in court. The individuals are expected to be held in Guwahati Central Jail.

The investigation is being led by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the Assam CID. Munna Prasad Gupta, SIT chief and Special DGP (CID), confirmed the presentation of the five accused in court.

Gupta informed ANI that seven individuals had been arrested in connection with the case. Five had completed their police custody and were moved to judicial custody. The remaining two suspects are scheduled to have their police custody conclude in the coming days.
