Two senior Assam police officers have returned from Singapore following their investigation into the death of singer Zubeen Garg. The officers arrived back in Guwahati on Thursday.
They extensively toured all locations relevant to Garg’s passing. The team also held meetings with numerous individuals connected to the case.
Special Director General of Police (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta and Tarun Goyal, Additional Superintendent of Police of Titabor, had traveled to Singapore on Monday. An official confirmed their return but declined to provide immediate details.
Gupta is scheduled to address a press conference on Friday. He will share the findings and further information gathered during the Singapore investigation.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the Assam Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is currently probing Garg’s death. This SIT is led by Munna Prasad Gupta, with Tarun Goyal as a member of the nine-person group.
More than 60 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been lodged across Assam concerning the singer’s death. The two SIT members specifically visited the site in Singapore where Garg died.
The Assam police team also met with their Singaporean counterparts. They discussed the ongoing case during their visit.
Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19 in Singapore following a scuba diving accident. He had been in the city-state for the Northeast India Festival.
His death deeply saddened fans across the region. The Assam government had pledged a fair and impartial investigation into the incident.
Authorities formed the SIT, and several arrests have been made in connection with the case. Further revelations are expected as the investigation continues.
