Assam DGP: Zubeen Garg Death SIT to Present Court Findings; Lookout Notices Active

The music world and fans have been waiting for answers about the death of beloved singer Zubeen Garg. His passing led to a deep investigation. Now, the top police official in Assam has finally shared a major update.

DGP Harmeet Singh announced on Monday that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is close to finishing its work. This team from the CID has been looking into the circumstances of Zubeen Garg’s death. Once their final report is ready, it will go straight to court.

Seeking Answers Abroad

The SIT isn’t just working locally. A police team is already in Delhi. Soon, two other officers will fly to Singapore. This journey is crucial because Singapore is where singer Zubeen Garg died. The Assam government put together a special 10-member SIT. Special DGP MP Gupta is leading this important team. Their mission is to get to the bottom of everything that happened.

DGP Singh stressed how important this SIT is. He shared that the team is making great progress. While the final findings will be given to the court, not announced publicly, he made one thing clear. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered a transparent and scientific investigation. This ensures everything follows the country’s laws.

International Cooperation is Key

The investigation has an international aspect. The process has begun to use a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) with Singapore. This MLAT is an agreement between countries. It lets them share information and evidence for police work. India has such a treaty with Singapore. Documents for this will go from the Ministry of Home Affairs to Singapore. This will allow the SIT to get help from officials there. The DGP stressed the importance of following all legal steps. He warned that not doing so could hurt the case in court. He asked everyone to let the SIT do its job and to offer them support.

Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima, has also spoken out. She asked many questions, demanding a thorough and proper investigation.

Accused Face Lookout Notices

The DGP also shared news about specific individuals. Lookout notices are out for Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma. Mahanta organized the North East India Festival. Sharma was the singer’s manager. These notices mean authorities are looking for them. DGP Singh stated firmly that the accused will be brought back. He said there should be no doubt about it. He explained it is a legal process. If they don’t cooperate, tougher actions will follow.

Beyond the official investigation, Zubeen Garg’s family filed an FIR (First Information Report). Plus, over 60 more FIRs have been lodged by others. This shows the widespread concern surrounding his passing.
