Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the state government will file a chargesheet in the ongoing Zubeen Garg death case. The Chief Minister expressed full confidence in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the matter. Updates are emerging daily in the high-profile case involving the popular Assamese singer.
Sarma stated that the court will deliver justice once the chargesheet is filed. He affirmed the Assam government’s trust in the SIT’s thorough work. The investigation team traveled to Singapore, visited the incident site, and conducted a second post-mortem.

He criticized some individuals who are now protesting despite previously offering suggestions to the investigation. Sarma urged them to present any concerns to the Justice Saumitra Saikia Commission. The Chief Minister previously accused some factions of attempting to politically exploit Garg’s death. He stated that efforts to destabilize the state would not be tolerated by the government.
In connection with the investigation, the SIT/CID team has arrested seven individuals. Those taken into custody include Shyamkanu Mahanta, the main event organizer, and Siddharth Sharma, Garg’s manager. Also arrested were Sandipan Garg, his cousin and a suspended APS officer, and bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami.
Co-singer Amritprabha Mahanta and two private security officers, Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya, were also among those detained. A Guwahati court subsequently remanded all seven accused to judicial custody.
Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19 in Singapore. He was reportedly in Singapore to perform at the North East Festival. His death was attributed to alleged drowning while floating.
