Asian Cup 2022: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) made a big announcement regarding the hosting of the 2022 Asian Cup. According to this, the tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) instead of Sri Lanka. This was officially announced by the ACC on Wednesday. A press release issued by the Asian Cricket Council said that in view of the current situation in Sri Lanka, the ACC, after extensive deliberations, unanimously concluded that it would be appropriate to move the tournament from Sri Lanka to the United Arab Emirates.

In this regard, Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman Shammi Silva said that we are very much looking forward to hosting our Asian neighbors in Sri Lanka for the long-awaited Asian Cup. While I fully agree with the ACC’s decision to move the Asian Cup to the United Arab Emirates given the current context and scale of the event, Sri Lanka Cricket will work closely with the ACC and the United Arab Emirates Cricket Board.
