Asian Cup 2022: There is hardly a week left for the start of the Asian Cup. Five major countries have announced their squads for this tournament which is played between six teams. While the qualifying matches between four teams for one place have also started since Saturday. The tournament starts on the 27th of August but the eyes of the cricket fans all over the world are fixed on the next day i.e. on the 28th of August, the India-Pakistan match. Both arch-rival teams will meet again after nearly a year. However, both teams will play without their main fast shooter this time.
While Jasprit Bumrah will be missed in India, Pakistan may make the difference due to the absence of Shaheen Afridi. News of Bumrah’s departure had already broken, but Pakistani bowler Shaheen was ruled out of the tournament on Saturday due to injury. Now the question arises which player Pakistan can include in the squad to fill the Shaheen shortage.
Hassan Ali-
Right-arm fast shooter Hasan Ali has been struggling with his form for quite some time. This is the reason why he does not have a place in the Pakistan squad for the Asian Cup. However, following the departure of Shaheen Afridi, he may be included in the team again.
Mir Hamza:
If the Pakistani coaches want to try a left-arm shooter like Shaheen, then they can go with Mir Hamza. Hamza has played just one match for Pakistan so far, which was in the 2018 test against Australia. But he had just arrived in the Netherlands to play a warm-up match.
Zaman Khan:
Selectors will also be keeping an eye on Zaman Khan who took 18 wickets for Lahore Qalandars in this year’s edition of the Pakistan Super League. The 20-year-old right-handed bowler is also being compared to Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga.
Zahid Mahmoud:
Considering the conditions in the United Arab Emirates, Pakistani selectors can also go with a spinner. In such a situation, Zahid Mahmood, who spins his legs and is part of the team in Pakistan’s tour of the Netherlands, may have a chance.
