Ravi Ashwin’s on-field anger is making headlines again. This time, it’s not an opponent who’s on the receiving end, but his own teammates. A video from the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is going viral, showing Ashwin furious with his team’s fielding.
It happened during a match between the Dindigul Dragons and the Siechem Madurai Panthers. The Dragons’ fielders botched not one, not two, but three run-out chances. The clip shows Ashwin, fielding at extra-cover, picking up the ball and throwing it to the non-striker’s end. But the fielder fumbles, and the batsmen take an extra run.
Another fielder from short mid-wicket throws the ball to the keeper, but it’s a poor throw, and the keeper misses it again. The batsmen take another run. A third throw is also way off target, but the batsmen decide not to take a fourth run.
When the camera cuts to Ashwin, he’s visibly angry. This isn’t the first time Ashwin has been involved in a controversy in the TNPL this season. Earlier, he had a heated argument with the umpire after being given out LBW against the Dream Turuppur Tamizhans. Ashwin, who has retired from international cricket, slammed his bat onto his pad in frustration.
