Former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh has said that it is a shame that former President Ashraf Ghani, who claimed to have killed himself in the country if there was no agreement with the Taliban, fled the country.
Speaking to BBC Pashto, Amrullah Saleh said that by fleeing Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani had also broken his promise to him.
Explaining his point, Amrullah Saleh said that Ashraf Ghani had told him that he was ready to die in the presidential palace if there was no political agreement with the Taliban.
He said that Ashraf Ghani should watch his old videos in which he used to say that do not ask what the country has done for you but see what you have done for the country.
Amrullah Saleh said that Ashraf Ghani used to say about another ruler of the country Amanullah that he was a good thinker but he had run away from the country and left the nation alone so now Ashraf Ghani should tell the people that he Why did you run away from the country?
He said that it would have been better for the Taliban to arrest Ashraf Ghani than to go abroad because in that case the Taliban would come under pressure from the nation and the world.
Amrullah Saleh said that he did not understand why Ashraf Ghani was not responding to the allegations that he took a lot of wealth with him when he fled the country.
It may be recalled that as soon as the Taliban entered Kabul on August 15, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani resigned and left Afghanistan immediately. He first arrived in Tajikistan but was not allowed to stay, so he moved to Dubai. The UAE granted them humanitarian asylum.
Reports published in the domestic and foreign media on August 16 claimed that Ashraf Ghani had taken a large sum of money which was stolen by several vehicles. Reports also claimed that the former Afghan president had to leave a large sum of money because there was no room for more money.
