Ashley Park promises that viewers have many more surprises to expect from the upcoming fifth season of Emily in Paris. The actress, who portrays Mindy Chen, emphasized that a recent preview only scratched the surface of what is to come.
Park, 34, told Us Weekly that the released teaser was filmed solely in Rome. She spoke at the VIP opening of Netflix House in Philadelphia on November 10.
“We also filmed in Paris and Venice, so that was really just a teaser,” Park stated. She looks forward to the release of the official trailer.
“This gives you a sense of the tone and what you can eagerly expect in the first few episodes,” Park added. “But there’s so much more. The best is yet to come.”
The Netflix series, which debuted in 2020, follows Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) as she navigates life and love in France. Emily’s fourth season concluded with her beginning a relationship with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) in Rome.

Mindy also embarked on new adventures in the fourth season finale. She received an opportunity to perform for an audience in Rome, leading to a job offer that initially took her out of Paris before she reunited with Emily in Italy.
Park reflected on the passage of time since the show’s debut. She noted that more than half a decade has passed since the series premiered.
“Lily and I were talking about that the other day,” Park said. “We’ve known each other for five years, and it’s interesting to step into the shoes of a character whose life has only moved forward a few days, when you grew as a person six months or a year [between seasons].”
The actress expressed gratitude for her experience on the show. “This show has completely changed my life in terms of the avenues and conversations I can participate in,” she remarked.
Park continued, “I can converse with people all over the world thanks to Netflix being global. I’m so grateful.”
While the fifth season will see Emily in Rome, creator Darren Star previously clarified that the series would not simply become “Emily in Rome.” Park joked about future plot possibilities.
“All I know is I don’t want Emily in space. I don’t need to go to space,” she quipped. “I’ll go anywhere else. Preferably the beach.”
The fifth season of Emily in Paris is set to return on Thursday, December 18, exclusively on Netflix.
