AS followed the ‘rocket’ Reusser in his triumph in Pau

The final time of the Women’s Tour de France with Zwift left usin addition to the consolidation of the victory of Demi Vollering and the fight for the other two positions on the podium, one of the last tests in competition for those cyclists who will fight for the time trial world title on August 10.

A chrono that AS was able to follow live through one of the organization’s cars and Zwift, the main sponsor of the race, driven by the Dutch ex-cyclist Chantal Beltman, runner-up in the world in 2000 and winner of the Ronde von Drenthe in 2008 and the Postnord UCI WWT Vargarda in 2007.

This newspaper was able to follow the Australian cyclist of the Canyon//SRAM Sarah Roy in action in the first place, that after going up the ramp and the subsequent countdown of “Cinq, quatre, trois, deux, un… C’est parti!” he started his time trial at 15:11. Already in this first contact we could see the roads full of people, especially when passing through the municipality of Bosdarros and especially during the entire ascent to the level, with a devoted fans and with posters asking for more repercussions for the Women’s Tour de France , also at the arrival in Pau and the last ramp before the finish line.

AS also had the opportunity to follow along with Chantal Beltman and Kate Veronneau, Zwift’s director of women’s strategy, the timer of one of the great favorites for the title at the next World Cup in Glasgow, the Swiss Marlen Reusser. Reusser’s race was quite a spectacle, seeing his coupling on the time trial bike on the descents to leave Pau and also on the long straights before the climb to Bosdarros. Over there Reusser overtook the Canadian Olivia Baril before the intermediate point at the crowded summit and shortly after the descent the Italian Eleonora Gasparrini. A whole exhibition that concluded in the demanding ramp prior to the entrance in the Place de Verdun that allowed him to stop the clock at 29:15 and send a warning to his rivals ahead of a World Cup in which he wants to storm the rainbow after two second places in 2020 and 2021.
