Arsenal closes the exit door for Tomiyasu

Arsenal have made it clear they have no intention of negotiating the departure of Takehiro Tomiyasu, despite Bayern Munich’s growing interest in the versatile Japanese defender. According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern have their sights set on Tomiyasu and want to sign him during the winter transfer window, but Arsenal are unwilling to part ways with their Japan international.

Arsenal closes the exit door for Tomiyasu

25-year-old Tomiyasu joined Arsenal in the summer of 2021 after an outstanding season with Italian club Bologna. Since his arrival, he has become a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s plan, taking part in 69 games and contributing four goals. His versatility in various defensive roles has made him a valuable asset.

Despite interest from Bayern Munich, Arsenal view Tomiyasu as an important part of their plans and are unwilling to consider selling him mid-season. The Japanese player has been a consistent force in the Gunners’ defence, appearing in 16 games so far this season and showing his adaptability on both the flanks and in the center of defence.

Tomiyasu’s impressive performances have caught the attention of Bayern, who are looking to strengthen their defence. Although the German club is keen to secure the Japan international’s services in January, Arsenal have expressed their firm stance on retaining the player during the current season.

With a contract that runs until the summer of 2025 and the option to extend it for a further 12 months, Arsenal are in a good position to keep Tomiyasu in their ranks. While Bayern may be willing to wait until the summer of 2024 to restart their efforts, Arsenal remain firm in their decision to keep the talented defender at the Emirates Stadium.
