Arrested for blindly receiving government benefits for years

Seoul: A man who has been living on government benefits for eight years pretending to be blind has been jailed.

According to foreign media, taking advantage of South Korea’s law on pensions and benefits for people with disabilities, a man has been pretending to be blind for the past eight years, which has cost him dearly.

The incident took place in the capital, Seoul, where a 40-year-old man pretended to be a first-degree blind from 2010 to 18 and received large sums of money from the state treasury.
