A 23-year-old man with no prior record was arrested on Wednesday morning in Lourdes Gruta in connection with the murder of police officer Pablo Dávila. The police had previously conducted raids in the Marconi area in search of him but were unable to find him.
The second individual required in connection with the case is a 20-year-old with a prior record for reception. He was arrested by the police on Wednesday night in the Union area while he was inside a taxi. According to research sources, the suspect had taken the taxi in White Piedras, and the police followed the vehicle for several minutes until it reached the southern corner.
At one point, the taxi went through an area without cameras, causing it to be lost from the police’s view temporarily. However, the investigators were able to locate it again using the vehicle’s registration. The police decided to stop the taxi at the intersection of South Commerce and Cube, where they made the arrest at 10:00 p.m. The suspect was found inside the taxi with his sister, who was also arrested for carrying a .45 gun, the same type used in the homicide of the police officer on Monday night in the Marconi neighborhood.
During the arrest, the police were heard saying, “Long live the National Police, live the police.” The young man and his sister are now available to the Prosecutor’s Office, with the brother facing charges for the homicide and the sister for cover-up. The taxi driver was also registered by the police at the time of the detention but was released after completing a statement, as he is not involved in the case.
In total, two individuals are required for the homicide, and the sister of the 20-year-old is required for cover-up. Another woman who was arrested on Wednesday morning in Lourdes Grotto was released, according to sources from the case. Two .45 guns were seized during the investigation into Pablo Dávila’s crime.
