Around 400 people evacuated after major fire in Moscow apartment building

“There is a fire on the roof of a six-story residential building” near the Aeropuerto metro station, the municipal service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Telegram, without yet providing information on possible victims.

The flames affected an area of ​​4,000 square meters, the ministry said, which deployed “more than 130 specialists” and “two helicopters” to the scene to try to contain the fire.

In a separate statement, the ministry said “around 400 people were evacuated.”

Authorities have not yet provided any information about a possible cause of the fire.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that “the fire department is taking all necessary measures to extinguish the fire” and that “evacuated residents are receiving the necessary assistance.” AFP
