Details of the Arrest
The operation that led to the arrest of the three individuals began when they attempted to flee from a police checkpoint. The authorities had set up the checkpoint on the port promenade, and as the suspects approached, they accelerated their vehicle in an attempt to escape.
Circumstances of the Chase
During the pursuit, the police observed the suspects discarding a firearm from their vehicle. The suspects’ car was later intercepted at the intersection of Jujuy and Nerses Ounanián, where the occupants were taken into custody. Upon searching the vehicle, the police found a 4-year-old girl in the back seat, sitting next to one of the male suspects.
Background of the Suspects
The two male suspects and the female driver have extensive criminal histories. The female suspect, who was driving the vehicle, is 28 years old. One of the male suspects, aged 41, has eight prior convictions, all of which resulted in prison sentences. The other male suspect, aged 49, also has a criminal record, according to the police report. The vehicle they were driving was a stolen Chevrolet, with altered license plates.
Arrangements for the Child’s Care
After the arrest, the police attempted to contact the Family Court to report the situation and arrange for the child’s care. However, their initial calls went unanswered. Following further consultations, the police eventually handed the child over to her father, as stated in the police report.
