Actor Arjun Bijlani recently spoke out, clapping back at critics of his popular television show, ‘Naagin’. He had some strong words for those who questioned the fantasy series.
Back in 2015, a show called ‘Naagin’ debuted on television. Ekta Kapoor’s creation quickly became a hit. Yet, some critics found fault with its fantastical nature, claiming it didn’t show realistic stories. Arjun Bijlani, a lead actor in the series, has now spoken up to defend the show.
Arjun Bijlani on ‘Naagin’ Show’s Ratings
Arjun Bijlani recently sat down for an interview with Siddharth Kannan. During their chat, he talked about the immense popularity of ‘Naagin’. He explained, “Its popularity wasn’t just limited to smaller towns. Mumbai audiences loved it too.” He then shared some interesting details about its TV Rating Points, or TRP. “Other shows might have earned a TRP of 2. But ‘Naagin’ often pulled in 6. It even concluded with a strong 5 TRP rating.” He added, “This show was bigger than my previous hit, ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’. After ‘Naagin’, my life took a different turn. I think the first season was the best one.”
Comparing ‘Naagin’ to ‘Spider-Man’
Bijlani also reacted to those who criticized the show directly. He made a clear point, saying, “Something is regressive when you show these things in a realistic story. ‘Naagin’ was always presented as a fantasy tale.” Then he brought up a famous superhero. “What is Spider-Man? Is he real? Is Naagin real? It’s not real. So, where was the criticism coming from?” He pointed out the show’s success, stating, “The whole world was watching it. The TRP proved that.” He believes the critics were simply people with too much time on their hands. He wrapped up his thoughts with a dose of perspective. “No famous person escapes criticism. Think about Virat Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan, or Salman Khan. But who cares? You just do your job and keep moving forward.”
