Aritz Urra takes the Clásica Valladolid in a tight sprint

The Spanish Cup Elite-Sub23 has arrived today to its halfway point with the tight victory in the sprint of Aritz Urra (Telco On. Clima Osés) in the Clásica de Valladolid-Memorial Ángel Lozano ahead of Sergi Darder (High Level) and Gabriel Ochando (Zamora Enamora). Thomas Silva once again showed enormous solidity to finish in seventh position and thus maintain his lead in the national competition.

After a hectic start and with the cold making a dent in the first bars, not so much the wind that was expected, formed a notorious breakaway made up of five men: Marc Dols (Brocar-Ale), Óscar Fuentes (Gomur Cantabria), Hugo de la Calle (Caja Rural-Alea), Alejandro Del Cid (Vigo Rías Baixas) and Vicente Rojas (Supermerados Froiz). The five managed to crown the Portillo in the lead, increasing their difference to a minute with a peloton from which eight more cyclists later jumped, managing to give consistency to the breakaway until establishing the maximum difference in two minutes.

The race, however, was blown up on the approach to Simancas, where Domínguez (Zamora Enamora) attacked and finally the peloton was reunited until reaching the finish line. There the strongest was Aritz Urra (Telco On. Clima Osés), that was imposed by little advantage to Sergi Darder (High Level) and Gabriel Ochando (Zamora Enamora). Thomas Silva (Caja Rural – Alea) continues to lead the national circuit, while Ricardo Zurita (Cortizo) continues as the elite leader. The next appointment of the Spanish Cup Elite-Sub23 will be held on April 23 with the dispute of the XXXIX Clásica Ciudad de Torredonjimeno.
