Ariana Grande Reissues ‘Loving Reminder’ Against Appearance Comments

Ariana Grande is reiterating her firm stance against public commentary on physical appearance. The pop superstar recently shared what she called a "loving reminder" on her Instagram stories. This message urged people to avoid criticizing how others look.

The post from Saturday, November 29, was a clip from a past interview. Grande, 32, had originally spoken with French journalist Sally during the 2024 press tour for her film Wicked. Her co-star Cynthia Erivo, 38, was also present during the conversation.

Grande explained that she has been in the public eye since age 16 or 17. She has "heard every version" of what people claim is happening to her body. She noted that even when perceived issues are "fixed," new criticisms emerge.

"It’s hard to protect yourself from that noise," Grande stated during the interview. She called such comments "uncomfortable and horrible," regardless of the scale. This even includes remarks from family, like a grandmother asking, "Oh my God, you look thinner, what happened?"

Grande believes that society has an "uncomfortable" habit of commenting on others’ appearances. This includes their bodies, faces, and even perceived health. She described this public discourse as "really dangerous for all parties involved."

She has actively worked to disconnect from this external noise. Grande reminds herself, and others, that they are "beautiful." She explained that this negativity has been a constant in her life since she was 17.

"I no longer invite it," Grande declared. "It’s not welcome. I have work to do, a life to live, friends to love and so much love – and it’s not invited." She stressed that she makes no more space for such judgments.

Grande has consistently been open about the scrutiny she faces. She has also discussed her past experiences with cosmetic procedures. In a September 2023 interview with Vogue, she revealed stopping Botox and lip fillers in 2018.

She explained that as a younger woman, she used makeup as "a disguise or something to hide behind." This involved "more and more hair and the eyeliner getting thicker and thicker."

Grande now embraces aging and wants to see her "deserved cry lines and smile lines." She believes that growing older "can be a very beautiful thing."

Earlier this year, in January, Grande confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that she remained "clean" of injectables. As the founder of REM Beauty, which launched in 2021, she finds transparency to be crucial.
