Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría take the measure of Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar

In Brussels the champions’ trophies were lifted by the same couples as in the previous Open, the one in Granada. Actually the two couples are the ones that have won the most tournaments this season: Tapia and Coello six, all; and Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría four, out of seven that have played in the WPT.

Paula and Ari had recovered number one and now they reinforce it. Their rivals have played all the finals of the year, and have only lost four games, against today’s winners. Actually, both couples have starred in 23 finals in two years and so far this year, and Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar dominate, 16-7, but Paula and Ari give the impression that they have taken the measure: they have won the last three (Reus, Granada and Brussels), a streak that they had never achieved. In all the sets Ari and Paula started with 2-0, then came the reaction, and thus they lost the first round 6-7. They were not intimidated to reply with a 6-3, and leave open a spectacular last set due to the ups and downs on the scoreboard, but they controlled Gemma well who could not impose her punch, although Alejandra’s forehand is always a problem. That determined the final 7-5.

And in men, Well, it is seen that at this moment Tapia and Coello have no rival, although Stupaczuk and Di Nenno are close to giving the blow. In the final they tutored the undefeated winners in the WPT, and even beat them in the second set, the third they have lost this season, but the streak of the man from Valladolid and the Argentine continues unblemished: 7-6, 3-6 and 6-3. Stupa and Di Nenno, in reality, are the only ones who have defeated Tapia and Coello, in the Doha Major, of Premier Padel, and they starred in a match of equals on a track where the auction was not final,
