Argentine Super Cup, but in the United Arab Emirates

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) agreed that the next four editions of the Argentine Super Cup, which crosses the winner of the Argentine Cup with the winner of the Professional League, will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

As stipulated, the finals will be a single match between 2023 and 2026 and the first would begin in January of next year, nothing more and nothing less than a Superclásico between River and Boca.

The AFA had published the programming of the 2020 Argentine Super Cup for 2022, as a result of its provisional suspension due to the covid-19 pandemic, and it should be played by Boca, champion of the 2019-20 Argentine Super League, and River, as runner-up of said contest since the Xeneize also stayed with the Argentine Cup of that semester.

But since this tournament stopped being organized in 2021, there are still some doubts about what decision will be made for this edition.

Until that question is resolved, the only thing concrete is that the winner will receive a million dollars as a prize.

The Argentine Super Cup was inaugurated in 2012 and was won by Arsenal (0-0 and on penalties against Boca), Vélez (1-0 vs. Arsenal), Huracán (1-0 vs. River), San Lorenzo (4-0 against Boca ), Lanús (3-0 against River), River (2-0 against Boca), Boca (on penalties against Rosario Central) and River (5-0 against Racing).
