Argentine merenguero composer and producer Gustavo Márquez dies of a heart attack

The Argentine merenguero composer and producer Gustavo Marquez, 66 years old, He died this Saturday after suffering a sudden heart attack.

Márquez, who wrote merengues for Milly Quezada, Pochy Familia and Olga Tañón, died upon arriving at his residence after finishing rehearsals for his Bachata Trío group, with which he had been working for several years.

With great regret, the leader of the Coco Band released the news through his social networks, where he assured that his friend and colleague “was as Dominican as we are.”

The artist was the creator of songs such as “Because I did not find you” (Olga Tañón), “Only with you” (Milly Quezada), “Lies” (Gilberto Santa Rosa), “Mi media mitad” (Rey Ruiz), among others.

“Goodbye to a great friend and great composer, our Gustavo Márquez (I say ours because he was no longer Argentine, he was as Dominican as us),” said Pochy.

“A giant left us… your works will remain until eternity. Thank you Gustavo for so many beautiful songs that you leave us as a gift to humanity that believes in beautiful and well-produced music,” he concluded.

Other artists such as Milly Quezada, Olga Tañón and Henry Jiménez mourned his death.
