Argentine health authorities are on alert because of a mosquito invasion that is primarily affecting Buenos Aires

For a few days now Mosquitoes They have the residents of the Argentine capital at bay. It is the species Aedes albifasciatus and its invasion is a product of last week’s rains and has worsened this Friday.

This mosquito works by a mechanism in which rainfall is a trigger for the start of growth of the adult mosquito, as reported by the Argentine University Environmental Management Authorities.

This mosquito does not transmit diseases such as dengue fever, Zika and chikunguya. This reassures the health authorities in the neighboring country, but poses a problem for residents who can no longer find insect repellent in commercial premises.
