There are stories on Twitter that Elon Musk’s social media platform has plans to introduce its own cryptocurrency. This coin would live under the name “Twitter Coin” and be used for payments and donations on the platform.
Prototype leaks
On December 4, Nima Owji posted a screenshot of what appears to be a prototype of the Twitter Coin interface. On the image of Owji we see, among other things, the image of a logo for the Twitter Coin. It also seems that content developers will soon be able to charge a subscription fee for their tweets. It remains to be seen to what extent that has a chance of success.

Incidentally, Owji is not the only one with this information. Tech researcher Jane Manchun Wong also claims to have this code from a specific version of Twitter’s web application. It is striking that Wong’s post and her account have since been deleted. In the end, we can only wait to learn what this means.
Dogecoin community remains hopeful
Despite the rumors of Twitter’s own coin, the Dogecoin community remains hopeful. Some even think that Twitter Coin is just a name they use as a cover for Dogecoin. That seems pretty unlikely at this point, but who knows. After all, Elon Musk has done crazier things and he likes to joke.
During a December 4 Twitter Spaces post, Elon Musk revealed that he is still toying with crypto integration. “It is a no-brainer for Twitter to integrate payments with both fiat money and crypto,” said the billionaire.
However, since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, the focus has been on issues such as censorship, subscriptions, leaking sensitive company information, and tackling bot activity on the platform. Few real crypto-related cases have been presented yet. That now seems to be changing with Twitter Coin.
