Archers from 25 countries have confirmed their participation in the Archery Merengue Cup, the last qualifier that will distribute quotas for the Pan American Games that will take place this year in Chile.
The tournament, which will be held from the 11th to the 15th of this month, will take place at the Parque del Este Shooting Range, according to José Miguel Robiou, president of the Dominican Archery Federation (Fedota).
“We are already entering the critical path for this Merengue Cup, where we are going to have high-level goalkeepers who come to seek their qualification for the Panameriicanos of Chile,” said Robiou.
The sports leader stated that the Archery Merengue Cup will award the last nine places for the sport’s tournament of the Pan American Games, which will be held from October 20 to November 5 of this year.
The competitions will take place from 9:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon in the modalities of compound bow and recurve bow.
The president of Fedota indicated that the participation of just over 250 athletes is expected, as well as 41 officials from different countries.
He declared that the Dominican Republic, which already has a place for the Pan American multi-sport event, will look for more tickets in the qualifier.
Among the countries that will be in the qualifier are Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Guatemala, Canada, Peru, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, Virgin Islands, El Salvador, Bahamas , Argentina, Guyana, Barbados, Uruguay, Curacao, Honduras, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.
