Arajet announces direct route from Santiago to Colombia

Arajet, the low-price airline of the Caribbean, announced at the Cibao International Airport the forthcoming opening of its Santiago (STI)-Medellín (MED) route with which a new chapter of connectivity between the Cibao region and Colombia begins.

“This year we committed ourselves within the framework of ANATO to provide people from Santiago with the possibility of traveling non-stop to Colombia from the Cibao International Airport, and today we are honoring that promise” assured Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and founder of Arajet.

Pacheco Mendez was accompanied by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, as well as businessmen Manuel Estrella and José Clase, members of the Board of Directors of the Cibao International Airport.

From the Ministry of Tourism we are committed to the tourism development of all corners of the country; That is why at ANATO we promised to support this new Arajet route and I am sure that new routes will be added to make Santiago de los Caballeros and Cibao an excellent tourist destination”, said Minister Collado.

Pacheco explained that, as of July 17, Thanks to Arajet, Santiago will have two weekly frequencies to Medellín that will allow closer ties between both cities and strengthen the tourist, economic and commercial exchange.

The new route from Santiago to Medellín offers flights on mondays and thursdaysleaving Santiago the Monday at 4 pm and arriving in Medellín at 5:35 p.m., and leaving Medellín at 6:20 p.m. and arriving in Santiago at 10 p.m.

On Thursdays, the route starts at 7:45 am in the city of Santiago, arriving in Medellín at 9:20 in the morning, and leaving Medellín at 10:05 a.m. arriving in Santiago at 1:45 p.m.

Aircraft fleet

Pacheco reported that Arajet was born as the airline with the most environmentally friendly aircraft fleet with five new aircraft, and with five aircraft to be added in 2023, to end the year with a fleet of 10 aircraft with the latest technology, with an efficiency that allows them to save 14% in fuel and impact 40% less in sonic pollution.

Arajet is the first low-cost airline in the Caribbean region and began operations in September 2022 from its base at Las Américas Airport in Santo Domingo, under its air operator certificate (AOC) from the Dominican Republic.

The airline operates a new fleet of Boeing 737MAX-8 aircraft that provide safe and affordable travel to and from the Dominican Republic to various destinations in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean region.
